I've decided to pack up and move to Townsville (currently in Sydney)
I have a diamond python that dad will look after (yet to tell him that!!)
But I also have a knob-tail gecko that I dont think Dad would be capable of looking after properly etc...
As I am going to be staying in a hostel in Townsville for a while until I get myself sorted (and decide if thats where I want to live)... I don't know what to do with my gecko?
Basically, no-one I know can/will look after it.. I was thinking of a pet boarding place in Townsville somewhere until I sort myself out up there (maybe 2 months or so MAX)
Does anyone know of a place like this up there?? or other suggestions? (ie boarding centres down in Sydney or something??)
Any opinions would be great at this stage - im so devastated at the thought of having to sell it!

unless he has a licence and holds it for 6 months minimum, he cant really baby sit for you legally. why dont you wait the 2 months or so in sydney and find a place to stay, before going up... ?

You will also need to apply for a qld lic and do a tranfer to take the gecko with you, might be easier to sell it and buy another one up there?? unless you are attached to it?

well - i want to live in townsville for a while till Im happy that I like it - get a stable job that Im happy in and then proceed to looking at renting a house - i dont wanna cart all my furniture up and not like the place as much as it seems...
I know it is just a gecko and they all look the same - but its my baby... and I would regret selling it so much... (damn stupid emotional attachments!!)

Do you have a friend in Sydney with a reptile licence who wouldn't mind looking after it for you. You can right it into your books and get permission off NPWS to let the animal "board" with someone else till then etc.
It is not difficult to swap licences over either Liccy. I went through the transfer last July and it is pretty easy to do.

I did actually find someone who would get his licence and take the gecko for me..
However, today he has decided it is too much like having a baby because occasionally he likes to go away for a week at a time..
I said 'definately not' to leaving it alone for a week...
Just want some opinions - if he fed it before he went - would this really be a problem??
