Herp Room Underway At Last

I have finally started building the enclosures for my fish room conversion to a herp room
First bank is 8 foot tall and 4 foot wide and comprises of 3, 4' x @' x 2' enclosures. I am going to build them with provision for dividers so they can be used as 6, 2x2x2 cubes if need be. Now, my question is this, if I put the heat lamps to the outer edge then when in use as 4' enclosures the temp grad will not be very effective, also, if I put them in the middle, adjacent the divider the same problem will arise. I thought of putting the fittings on tracks so they can be moved to suit the configuration of the enclosures at the time but this would pose an electrocution risk so I have shelved that idea. What do you guys reccommend under these circumstances? Do any of you have this sort of arrangement? What are your experiences with it?
I just know that one of you wonderful APS members will have a solution for me

First thought would be a globe(small wattage) in each section along with a heatmat for each as well.

cheers M.....

Dont really wanna use mats and as I wanna use one stat per bank I will need more than one globe per section. My main concern is placement so I get a proper gradient for each of the possible configurations.

If you were using them as 2x2x2 cages a single 25wt globe would heat them easily, I would use two stats per bank, wired in so if one fails the other kicks in.

Maybe a few fittings so you can change wattage, or amount of lights?

Yes but it is placement I am on about, let me explain If I put the globes at opposite ends of the bank that will be fine when the divider is in but bugga up the gradient when it is out. Same thing, I think if I put them in the middle each side of the divider. You see my dilemma?

Simple...
Place 2 light fittings (1 at either end per level)
When using the tier as 1 long enclosure (no divider) just use 1 high wattage globe at 1 end...
When using the tier as 2 shorter enclosures (due to the divider) fit 2 small wattage globes 1 at both ends...

The method that John suggested is the way that I have seen it done.
The cages I have seen have the divider protruding from the front. To remove them, they just slide out. It's a pretty common design which allows the enclosure to be a lot more versatile.

Yes Greebs, Johns method is the way I am going to go, don't know why I didn't think of it actually, probably cos I'm a bit thick
I don't think I'll have the dividers to slide out though, I will just have them to slot in at the bottom and raise into place. I have used this method with my 6 footer and it works pretty well.
Thanks to you all for your assistance and advice in this You're not a bad lot
