For my hatchy bredli I also use light bulb boxes and any other small cardboard box I come across, and toilet rolls. But when he moves into his permanent home I'll probably give him something more natural.

PVC pipes (various sizes) cut in half length ways (two for the price of one) - works well

Mine get birthday gift boxes - they look pretty and still cheap to replace when they dirty them.

We have found the ceramic pots are excellent, they hold the warmth and give the snakes a nice hide as well.We just drill out the drain hole bigger to suit the snake.

How big was the coconut shell? I know they aren't cheap to buy, even for the pet shop. I have little ones intended for hermit crabs that I sell for $6. I just can't put any more $$$ on them or it will make them too dear, and we're not making 100% mark up on them.

I've actually had customers come back and say they stink after a while. What about the ones you use for your hide? Any comments about them (other than the price )?

well for my hide, (since my darlings a small fella) i cut the ends off the tissue box when the box is finished! walah! perfect hide for george. (For now of course) after i get my large enclosure set up, ill change it to something more exotic looking, or just a flowerpot base tipped upside down, with a small entrance cut out of it! well thats my say
regards,

Nat

Various sized plastic flowerpot bases upside down with a small entrance cut out of it.
Decor plastic lunchboxes with entrance hole cut out of it.
Ice cream containers with entrance holes cut out of it.
Commercially available plastic hides (see pic)
Plastic tubs (various sizes) turned upside down with entrance hole cut out of it.
All the above can be easily washed, cleaned and disinfected.

pic from http://www.happyreptile.com.au/defau...cts&category=9
but I bought mine from Shanes Aussie Reptiles.

We buy Liptons Teabags in a big box of 300, so I keep them for hides when empty. They are made of very strong cardboard. Cheers Cheryl
