This might have been covered in another thread, there seems to be a thousand referances to heating your enclosure, but what about those of us who have the opposite problem extreme natural heat? Sometimes the daily temps can reach 40 celsius without any artificial heating.
Apart from airconditioning are there any other ways to keep temperatures stable with a good gradient?

Ice packs if it is just temporary, but if the daily temps are regularly high you would be better off investing in a portable air con.

fans work, how do you think cold air flows out of an aircon?

Depends how the fans are set up & if heating is still applied or not.
Without a heat source an internal or even external fan will cool the temperature and allow your animal to survive but it will also eliminate a heat gradient and only give the animal a single temp range throughout the enclosure (unless of course it is possible to direct the stream of air to a certain part of the enclosure without it effecting the opposite side)
My suggestion would be to keep heating on through a thermostat and use ice packs at 1 end of the enclosure OR a portable air con to cool the room/enclosure. I use a portable air con in my Herp room, they are pretty expensive but well worth it imo & come in use every season. Heating remains on throughout summers in my enclosures but the room itself is set below 30*
