I know they usually grow to be around 7-9ft but what is the thickness of a full grown healthy carpet python (Morelia spilota mcdowelli)?
By the way, I got my license today and I am nearlly ready for my first snake, very exciting.

What do you think? I love it markings and would like to try and get one that is very similar.

It's hard to tell by a single photo.
If you like the markings, check out Darwin pythons as they are very similar to that.

I havent seen many Cape York pythons, then I remembered that a guy in our herp club has a couple and they look like that first picture.
They are nice looking snakes.

It is a Irian Jaya carpet python, a young one, maybe 18 mth's +
You can't get them in Australia, but their closest relative is the Darwin carpet, they share the same scientific name: morelia spilota variegata, so no probs getting them. |
