Ah well, maybe i'll stumble across my dream job one day. Does anyone know of any snake catchers in the western sydney area in need of a trusty sidekick? And also wouldn't things be fairly quiet around the cooler months? WILL WORK FOR KNOWLEDGE lol

Sounds like a dream job but i have a house to pay for! I currently have my ute for sale to pay off my credit card bill which kinda blew out when i discovered reptiles! So the wife told me i had to sell either the snakes and enclosures or my ute.... Anyone interested in a VS V8 Ute?

First thing you need to do is drink in all the knowledge you can, learn, ask questions, then ask some more.

Good luck with your venture.

And read books.

Also you could do a biology degree and then get a job as a Herpetologist/Ecologist and do fauna surveys. I think this is only really an option in the northern states, not sure about the rest.

If you're serious about it, I'm sure there's a few unis in NSW who offer science or bio-science degrees in which you could major in zoology, and then you could do research on snakes at a uni or maybe a zoo when you finished.

Brian you need to get in contact with your national parks and wildlife head office branch they will inform you of how you can get a damage mitigation license and who is your local dml holder in your area this is something you can do in your spare time and on weekends the local council and police dep will get your number after you get your license and when ever they get someone wanting a snake removed they give your number and so on .........its a start and you will get to know alot about the behaviour and carry ons of the reptile i am not sure wether you would get alot in your area as you didnt say wether you live in a built up area or a scrubby type area most common species found around western sydney would be your browns they seem to adjust to human habitat quite easily ,but pays to find out what else you could come across aswell.........RBB
