How old do snakes get?

In particular, how old will an Eastern Brown snake get?
Someone mentioned they had been seeing the same Eastern brown for many years in the same area and it was quite large now.

I dont think our hobby is really old enough to know just how old some breeds get (peninsular dragons excepted). However I would doubt you could expect much less than 20 years from a specimen that reaches old age.

My oldest animals at home are 12 year old eastern water dragons (bought as fully grown adults in 199 and they look like they have many many many years left in them yet.

In captivity, it is not unheard of for some pythons to live inexcess of 20 years.
Elapid wise, I know of a Tiger, N.scutatus, that died in its late teens. I know of Brown, P.textilis that is around 10yrs old and still going strong.

im on the wall about this but there is the school of thought that says the amount a python eats in its adulthood has a great bearing on its life expectancy
ie. less food = longer life..does the food intake affect the longevity of pythons?
