How small is too small?

I was at a really dodgy petshop today and saw a 2yo Spotted Python for sale and the python is in it's hideaway which was an overturned pot. To me, this pot seemed way too small. How can I best describe it. Well in the enterance hole, the snake had alot of it's body bulging out. It was like the pot was busting at the seams. Is this alright or is this much too small like I think it is? I was going to say something to the workers but didn't want to just incase.

as an indication, the snake feels much more comfortable with its body touching
most or all of the sides. overturned ceramic pots are ideal as they hold the heat well..
seeing it would be the best judge to see if it was too small..

Well I didn't take a photo. I know they like small places but it was so swished up in there. It was a big, thick snake in this tiny, tiny pot. As I said, heaps of it's body was tumbling out of the enterance hole.

i could only imagine that if it wasn't comfortable it wouldn't have resided in there.. but
if there was no other hides available it maybe possible it had no choice.. a hide would
be twice as valuable in a pet shop.. all the traffic.

As long as the whole snake fits inside and can get in after a feed the smaller the hide the better.

Did it have any other hides available?

It might be that they want to make sure ppl can see the snake at all times, and thats a great way to stress out the snake.

Can you PM the name of the shop to me?

Another good indicator of too small a size is when no part of the hide is actually touching the ground.

There was no other hides. There was nothing actually. The tank was bare but this tiny pot and a water bowl.

The end where the python ws spilling out of was tilted off the ground. The pet shop is called Pets and Aquariams Megastore or something along those lines.
