hmm.. i'm thinking no. Unless he has mites, or a clingon stuck to his tail.

What do you mean by clean? So he looks nice, or to clean any infections/mites/burns?

Consider their natural environment - they may get 'dirty' as such, but its not really an issue - its much like worrying about the tread on your car tyres getting dirty.

regards,
Lockie

I wouldn't worry about 'cleaning' your snake as such but in the hot summer weather I put Jake in the bath for a bit of a swim. He loves it!

It's funny that you mention this, cos as a little girl helping my brother clean his cars, it really used to bother me that his beautiful old ford muscle cars had grotty tires, i actually thought i was helping by soaping them up

I give my snakes regular baths or washes. Either put them into a container half filled with warm water and let them have a swim, soak for about 15-20 mins. It is good for them to help them with regular shedding and also soften any stool inside them.
The other way if they get some feaces on them from a fresh poo, or something similar, I just rinse them under a warm water flowing tap. Run my hands over them so anything is washed off. It is actually a good thing to occasionally wash them as they can have bacteria on them from stools and in the wild, they would poo then cruise off, but in their enclosures they don't have as far to move, other places to go, so they sometimes get some on them.
Bacteria can cause other nasty things. Make them sick etc. This is not for mites etc, but general husbandy.

I give mine baths in mildly warm (very mildly) water if they've got poo on them.. i've never met snakes who like to run through their own poo like some of mine! So in the interest of not feeling like i'm touching a big pile of poo everytime i get them out, i occasionally let them swim around in some water! My water python comes out all the time to have a swim/bath in a tub i have. he loves it!
