I HATE CATS

arrghhhhh.....
i offically hate cats (kittens are O.K.), acouple of days ago when it was hot so i left my reptiles room (renovated garage) door open, to get abit of circalation, then i went to work. when i got home a neighbours cat had come in and knocked over all my brooding containers (containing beardy babies) and been sctaching around the garage. i found all but two babies..i hope there ok :'(
and to make matters worse it must of knocked off a vent off my thick tail cage, because they where both there and the next morning they were gone
(i think female was pregnent) and the vent was off. IM SOOOOOOOOOOOO ANGRY IF I SEE A CAT AROUND it must have its running shoes on cos im gonna hunt it down.

sorry to share such a bad story but ........arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Geez Lamu, that's horrible. I wish you the best of luck finding (hopefully all well) the missing herps.

Cats dont go down well as forum topics either. Just trouble all round really.
Sorry to hear it Lamu, my wifes cat helped in the escape of my large male northern bluetongue.
Hopefully its the last one we'll have but I doubt it somehow.
I am also allergic to the them.
Will be keeping an eye on this thread.

Its a pity there are more cat owning voters than lizard owning voters. I feel for you totally Lamu. Was the cat actually trying to get at the lizards? How well do you know your neighbours? Do you want to borrow Olivehydra's male olive? Or that wild carpet python in Brisbane that someone posted eating a cat?

Its funny, when peoples cats destroy our herps they think absolutely nothing of it. But if your snake eats their cat (in your yard!!!) they would have a total hissy fit. thankfully where I live there aren't many domestic cats.

Don't get me wrong lamu, I agree that your anger is well founded and if I was in your position I would be angry too but at the end of the day the cat doesn't know it's doing the wrong thing. The irresponsible owner is the one doing the wrong thing by refusing to keep their pet locked up and that is exactly where my anger would be directed!!

I am not trying to start an argument, some people are cat people, some people are not and I am fine with that. I just don't want to see the cat cop all the blame for this terrible situation while the irresponsible owner gets off scott free.

Cheers,
Misky

I feel that Lamu22 was correct in posting his story as a warning of what could happen to unsupervised herps when cats are involved. Perhaps we could look upon this thread as being just that.
Degrading the thread into the tired old "cat" argument will only result in this thread being locked and moved.

Thankyou.

This was taken from www.cockburn.wa.gov.au -

Studies have shown that on average in a hectare of urban land there will be two domestic cats and each will kill 8 birds a year. (In most suburban areas only 20 birds hatch per hectare per year!) Cats have also been found responsible for 16 mammal and 8 reptile deaths each per year.
