One thing i read on a thread was to talking all the time when your near your python, he doesnt know what im saying, I know this but its like he has started to respond to my voice.
When he hears me he will turn and look even if im just walking past his enclosure.
So my question is. Can pythons get to recognise voices or are they just responding to a sound to check out what it is? |

I believe this too and i think that it's only a matter of time before a Herpetologist proves this to be correct!
I've heard people say that a snakes jaw has to be on the ground for the inner ear to be able to pick up the vibrations. I dont believe this.

its hard to say how far a snake can sense vibration ..surely they can pick up some airborne vibration...
chanty is probably right though..your snake may be able to diferentiate between the footsteps of a food server as opposed to the footsteps of a visitor for example

As people have said though I wouldnt' be suprised if they can detect airborne vibrations... |

| | | | Remember asking simple questions (or those you may think are dumb) are in fact questions that you need addressed.. Perhaps others have the same thought as simesy.... Never beat someone down for asking.. Next time they wont ask..
Hope you have your ego back,,,
Always ask.. it is good sense.. Just don't worry if the feedback is either petty or useless |

He could just be recognising you entering the room, whether by 'hearing' or 'smelling' or whatever, it's quite possible he is definately responding to YOU entering but who knows why
