It could also be that as pythons are equipt with heat sensing receptors, it may be each person gives off a slightly different heat signature and the snakes are recognising this. Just a thought.

I honestly think it’s the smell..... Had a bredli b4 and trust me, if I was in the company of guests and they were holding the snake, it would b restless and move around till it reached me and the second it did it would just coil up on me and look more relaxed.......... But fair enough to say body heat and everything else mentioned....... Well guess this would b one off those mysteries of the unexplained........

i'd say snakes can definitely hear some sounds. if i have my python out in the yard, as soon as there are any bird noises he stands up like a cobra 2 feet off the ground and stays completely still. it happens every time. most of the time the birds are not even within eyesight. i don't think it would be smell because he doesn't react until he hears the bird calls.
i'll take some pics when he does it again. it is raining at the moment though. another day.
