Yeah the yellow flap confuses me a bit - I only just noticed it yesterday.

But his mouth isn't yellow all over, the gums are pink, so it's weird

my male is the same. but when you think about whos to say easterns and centrals arent the same species just different localities

or whos to say an eastern etc hasnt been introduced into the centrals habitat somehow years ago and bred with the centrals? because that would explain why some have yellow gums and some dont.

They are clearly differant enough to be worthy of a differant name (except natural integrades and captive bred hybrids). I know hardly anything about taxonomy though, maybe they are just a differant subspecies, but they probably have it right with them being differant species.

He's a grumpy little thing, he doesn't bite but sure scratches a lot My hands and arms are starting to look like I've been in a fight with a bad-tempered alley cat
