ikea racks

i always like to go for the cheap alternative of things
my newest idea is rack from ikea:

http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/70120023

http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/50101233

thats a frame that can fit 6 42 x 55 x 15cm for $20 and the racks are only $9 each

that $72 + a heat cord and thermostat and you have yourself a cheap rack system for hatchlings

what do you guys reckon?

edit: this is my 100th post yay!

Cool idea, but where are you going to attach the heat cord?

I think the hatch;ings will get out as there appears to be no top on the tubs.

I'm using those racks for my terrestrial geckos, milii and levis, work an absolute treat. Im using the 50L tubs though, i thought the 25's might be a bit shallow (dont want them escaping). Its pretty easy to set up a heat cord along the back, you can thread it zig-zagged between the runner bits... if that makes sense, i don't know how to explain it better. If i had my camera I'd take pics. And I havent had any problems with the tubs overheating so i cant see them melting.

Okay, see if my diagram helps. I have the cord running along the back between the horizontal tracks. Because of the shape of the tubs the cord doesnt actually touch the plastic, but enough heat is produced to set up a pretty nice thermal gradient in the tubs. The side with the heat cord sits along the wall.

30 degrees is no where near hot enough to melt plastic you will be safe iv had tubs under temps of 40-50 with no dramas
