Legally, no you can't, you have to wait for the licence to be issued.

Keep ringing them it's what i did when i got fed up with the delays. Eventually they got through the pile and gave me the number over the phone .The permit then arrived two days later and a day after i picked up my beardies .

usually if you ask them nicely and say you need it urgently they will speed up the process. Apparently they were doing system upgrades or something so they fell back with processing a bit (that's what I was told anyway). It does say that it usually takes 7-10 days normally though.

No.

Just call NPWS, the people who process the permits are friendly.

We must be lucky in SA. I can fax the permit request in one day and have the import permit faxed back the following day.

I have waited 4 weeks for one of my permits.

It probably isn't a good time of year to be getting import / export paperwork anyway - with all our animal registry's being returned this month, and the fact that they are introducing a new Keeper's Record System. They mentioned at the HHS that further delays will be expect and thatthey have a 2 month back log of paperwork already.

I just hope they bring in an Import / Export Movement Advice book like some other states.

I put in an aplication on Friday, and I ran head office on Monday arvo, and they gave me the number!!!
And the rep arrived Tuesday. As long as you have the number, you dont need the permit.
But they ARE re-doing the new system, so I guess they are a little more busy than usual!!

Yes but they could then sell a book at a discounted rate as there would be less administration involved. A book of 10 or 20 for $100 would be great.

Sorry to wake up a long-dead thread, but can anyone in WA tell me how to go about getting an import permit? (Or if we're even allowed to import?)
I've been going around in circles on this government site but its a bit confusing...
