Incubator - Progress Photos

Not the neatest incubator in the world, but it'll do for now. I still need to neaten the corners, just waiting for the filler foam to cure.

Total cost to date = $0!

Will be fitting heat cord and running it on a Habistat Pulse Proportional Thermostat. - Fingers crossed it all works properly.

Junglerob did you cut a hole in the door of a bar frig and push in the corners of the cut hole to get that bevelled effect. Is the filler foam what is in the corners of the glass frame?

LOL! - steal away mate, not exactly original.

llasher - I cut a hole on the inside first, a bit smaller than the glass so that you have a surface to silicone the glass in place with. Then cut a smaller hole in the metal front, cut the mitres and then press it in so that it produdes beyond the inside face. Glue the glass in place with a stack of weights on it so that the angled bits finish flush against the glass and the glass is siliconed to the inside face of the door. Fill gaps with filler foam and .... VOILA!

Make sense? About as clear as mud?

The pieces angled inwards are metal, part of the door.

Makes perfect sense, exactly how I would do it, if I had any idea. I recently dissected an old frig, and the mess it made with twisted metal and insulation was unbelievable. I was also interested in what tool you used to cut the hole in the metal front of the door.

looks like a good setup although possibly wouldnt be too good for cooler areas due to heat loss through the glass. although double glazing would improve it. jmo

llasher - I cut the hole using a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade for metal.

alex_c - yeah, thought about that. Have a piece big enough to glue over the front if it comes to it. My mate uses 1 sheet of glass and his works fine. Fingers crossed!
