Information wanted about Carpet python locations

Hi

I bought my first carpet python a few months back, and the breeder referred to her as a 'Grafton' carpet, i assume this to be the location that the parents (granparents?) were captured.

I will try and post some pics up of mine soon, but i was wondering if any one else has heard of or owns a python from this locality, as her patterning is quite interesting (horizontal stripes) and i wondered if they could be a natural intergrade. Or if this was just normal for the Carpets in the area.

Any info at all would be nice, as i am looking for a partner and am unsure of what i should do as far as sourcing a male is concerned.

This is my baby, Shastri. She has a nice head pattern as well but hard to get good pic with my camera.

If you want to know size, she is sitting on a light globe box.

She's a cute little sheila. I don't know much about the locale, but if you want a mate for her from the same area i would say the best person to talk to would be the breeder.

Well i'm sorta-kinda looking for a partner for her. The main reason i'm not going back to the original breeder is that he lives a fair way from where i am and he wasn't 100% comfortable to deal with. Nothing personal against him, i'm just looking elsewhere to find a mate.
I'm also planning to maybe take a trip to the vet and get her probed as the breeder did express some doubt, when he told me she was female.

At what age can you be definately sure on sexing a python?

Would any of the breeeders out there have pics of any interesting coastal patterns?

You can safely sex pretty much all oz pythons, except gtps, as hatches, carpets are no problem. Grafton carpets come in alot of different forms.

Sex can be determined in snakes by probing posterior to the cloaca, to determine the presence of hemipenes. Typical sexing probes are stainless steel and either ball-tipped or tapered on the end. A safer method of sexing juvenile snakes is the "popping" of the male hemipenes. The animal is held inverted in the left hand, with gentle finger pressure just forward of the cloaca. The ball of the right thumb is placed on the tail, about twenty scales behind the cloaca. The right thumb is then rolled forward toward the cloaca. This pressure on the tail will cause the hemipenes of the male snake to be everted. Hope that helps
