To verify accuracy just point them at your old trusty thermometer from a meter away and check to see if they correspond. I've found the unit i have (same as littleguy ) is within a degree at about 1 meter

Every enclosure for newbies should have in place a full time thermometer (preferably with max/min alarms). You need a constant readout of the enclosure, not just a sample when you think of it.

Thank you so much with your post
i will get one of those double wired ones, so i can have a permanent reading of each end of my tank..
i already have those analog ones, sticking on the glass but i don't think they are really accurate as they take the glass temp instead of the air temp in the tank (me thinks)...
If they are accurate, when i check them (a couple of times a day when at work, more often at night at night and during weekends...) i've got 25oC on the cool end and 34oC on the warm end...
but as you pin-pointed, they're only samples and not a proper continuous reading with alarms...
I have also a thermostat set on 29oC with the probe located in the middle of the tank...

Thanks again for your help guys.... As you noticed I am a newbie (and proud of it) but i still have a lot to learn from experienced keepers.... Thank you.
Yann.

Check out http://www.herpasylum.com.au

I bought one of these puppies and they are fantastic. There ad doesn't say so but the thermometer also has an alarm you can set for certain temps. They are by far the best $25.50 any new herper getting into the game could spend.

Dual Probe Digital Thermometer
Price: $25.50
The new Dual Location Digital Thermometer is now available. This thermometer is the best idea we have seen in a long time, with two probes you can now place one probe at each end of you vivarium to monitor the temperatures. This is ideal to make sure your reptile can thermo regulate its body temperature correctly. The Dual Location Digital Thermometer also records min/max temperature's and can also be set to read Celsius or Fahrenheit with a push of a button. This little unit has many more functions and even comes with its own AA battery.

Thank you Woma...
That's the one I was looking at...
Do you know if it is only available from the web, or can I find it in town (Sydney CBD) like pet shops, hardware shops, etc...?
Thanks again.
Yann.

Not too sure mate. I'll ask around for you. I know the owner of herp asylum and let me tell you now, you WILL NOT find a nicer, more genuine guy anywhere. Ben who owns it is a dead-set legend.
