ashley some more experienced members may confirm or correct this but couldn't he be eating fuzzies by that age? May be just hungry and stressed from not getting the nutrition he needs?

ashley at that size and age he should be eatting fuzzies or hoppers i could be wrong about hoppers but your python should be able to eat a fuzzie.

My Inland Python does a half hearted constriction. It's a pitiful attempt. But she feeds well.

I do agree that it may need a bigger meal.

Storm is "A Special Helmetted Maccy" Astro, you know it. lol

Well fuscus, now that you bring that up I have my doubts about you and africa.

As for the Mac, sounds very strange. Try feeding larger food items and see what happens

Never complain about snakes only half heartedly constricting their dinner. Its a hell of a lot better then one of ours who squeezes so hard you end up with rats guts and **** all over its enclosure

i think what you are feeding the snake is definately not big enough, the poor thing must be starving.sometimes this eratic behavior can occur because the food is so small that the snake can't coil it or position it to begin feeding.try feeding your maccie proper sized food and see whether his disposition changes.

Why is everyone saying that a pink mouse isn't big enough for a 20-25cm snake??? A pink mouse is a challenge for a 20cm snake.

You gotta be kidding me?
A 7 month old maccie and you think a pink mouse would be a challenge?
What the hell do you think they eat as newborns?
Macs will go to fuzzies for there 3rd or 4th feed, no worries at all.

This is very interesting for a newbie like me, can I ask what sized mouse\rat I should be feeding my coastal Fluffy, who is about 2ft long ? She has eaten 3 fuzzy mice in 2 weeks without a poo, should I be feeding her bigger rodents ?

cheers

At the very least I would be feeding a 2 ft Carpet hopper mice. Fuzzies are to small and not much calcium for bone growth. Remember , the larger prey item they can eat, the larger skeleton the prey has, therefore more calcium for the snakes bone growth.
