Hey Nikki,
PM'd you - but in case anyone else was wondering - this was the method that worked for me...
Atticus wouldn't eat anything but crickets.... I tried everything, juice, hand feeding etc, then went for this method on combined advice from many different super experienced beardie people.
Give this a go...
1) Don't feed them anything for a day, make sure they have plenty of fresh water and salad if they're desperate, calcium to lick off the rock if they absolutley need to. Just no crickets/woodies whatever.
2) The next day offer pellets, soaked in juice (something sweet, like apple or mango). Probably soack for about 15mins - maybe more. Offer them off a pair of tweezers, preferably as long and blunt as you can get. Atticus really attacked the tweeezers when he decided to eat, and could have hurt himself if they were sharp. Make sure the pellets are quite soft and mushy.
3) Make sure you feed them when they're feeling most safe and comfortable - so, while they're basking or something, don't pick them out - don't take them out - just offer the pellets off the tweezers. They'll probably look interested - but might not go for it. If they do go for it - Hooray. If not...
4) Offer again, same method - later that afternoon. Make sure you try all three colours. Mine ONLY ate red pellets for about a week... now he's eating all the colours.
5) If they still don't go for it - offer a few crix that night - but maybe half what you'd normally give. Try the tweezers again the next day - all day. Almost guarantee it'll work.
Now he's eating about 6 pellets every morning combined with about dusted 10 sml-med crix - i know it's not a huge amount but he's not very big and i just wanted to vary his diet slightly... the pellets have a lot of vitamins...
and at least he is eating them now
So, give it a go... you've got to show them tough love so they get what's best for them
