Out of all Aussie snakes, Jungles definately rank up there as one of the best looking. I was actually planning ot buy one as my first python, but i've been told their temperament isn't the best. How do your guys hold up?

Thanks for your comment everyone.
Browns... I will try and take some head shots this weekend and post next week. The first pic is the female and the last two pics are the male.
SurfCop24... The pair pictured cost me $1500 (and worth every cent) from southernXreptiles http://www.southernxreptiles.com
Manny... Most young jungles are fiesty and will bite, especially when you go sticking your hand in their enclosure.... but once you get them out of their enclosure and are holding them... they settle down and rarely attempt to bite.
But for your first snake I would recomend antaresia, either a maccie, childreni or stimmie.
Cheers

lol yours were cheaper than mine,oh well you get that with the times progressing. This line in particular has a great temperament, not one of my 4 have acted agro in anyway other than great feeding responses and the size they get i wouldn't like to be tagged by a full grown adult but i rarely ever touch mine only if i have to and i'm sure they could be tamed right down to the most docile of snakes especially jungles, even many Athertons are flighty and will have a go when unexpected if they're not happy with you
I'll dig up a pic of one or 2 of mine that have the reduced head pattern which is kind of unique and you can see where it comes from when you see the parents,i'll post a pic another time but not the very typical strong skull and crossbones head patterns on most jungles,Athertons and TRUE jungles, look forward to the pics colin you should breed some stunners from them in a couple of years for sure..I'm taking a good guess the male has the reduced head pattern which can also be seen as a turtle looking down on top of the head at the outline of the head pattern..cheers

Cheers | I'm actually getting a Hypo Bredli as my first. They come fairly recommended, and they look great!

Nice one there JJ and nice solid black,I'm guessing yours is also around 12 mths old?It doesn't have a reduced head pattern or you could call it incomplete also as yours still has a nice classic skull and crossbones head pattern which i'm sure you can make out with the skull,2 eyes and mouth and the crossbones whereas this one which was 10 mths old when the pic was taken and you can see the reduced head pattern i mean and look hard for a turtle lol it is there...
From the small number i managed to breed this season only one is what i'd call extremely placid and the rest of the hatchies from 2 different clutches are absolute nutters twisting and turning trying to get a bite in every chance...do you reckon from this pic he or she isn't in such a great mood, just wants to be left alone that's all and here i am with a camera smack in it's face lol

Browns... here are the pics of my male from the SouthernXReptiles website. Their pics are still up on site at the "specials" link . http://www.southernxreptiles.com/
You can see the head pattern of the male in both these pics... there's a gap at the bottom of the skull and crossbones pattern. Is this what you were talking about concerning reduced head pattern?
Maybe mine's not quite what you mean, but I think I know the pattern your talking about. (shown in the picture to the link customer gallery 1)
I"ll post some recent head shots next week. Cheers

Yep Colin that's the reduced head pattern mate,it's missing the mouth of the skull if you know what i mean and also has the 2 tiny black dots,1 each side at the front each side of the stripe going to the nose just like mine and the father of them the nice black and gold adult Nimbus on southernx's site.He still looks small and you'll be surprised how big they get.

Yes browns, thats why they grow so big because they are not true jungles. As you have said they are athertons or jungle/atherton crosses.
The reduced head pattern as you call it is common, Ive seem a number of wild and captive bred true jungles and athertons that show that trait, it is nothing unusual.

Yep agreed, although they're cheynei they're still not TRUE jungles as such like the smaller proper rainforest dwellers but still black and golds.
I know the incomplete head patterns are seen on many animals and some have the perfect head patterns such as yours in your avatar a nice palmerston, just i call it reduced as it's a trait in this line and nothing real special about it just looks really good on certain animals which i've seen in other lines also ,sort of gives a jag look i really like.My favourite though are the strong bold head patterns with perfect 3 dots etc as your avatar and half mine lol The line has incredible colours for Athertons and nice and clean too.I love em all
