Just back from Pet store - Mum not happy

Hi,

I just went to a big petstore up at Thornton (Newcastle area) called Hunter Pets

I got a price on all this turtle euipment, wana know if their right prices..

3ft turtle tank + stand = $185 (Hoping to chage it into 4 ft)

External JEBO filter = $135

Turtle Dock = $55

Heater = $29

Reptile-glo UV light 5.0 rating = $42.50

Is that all worth it?

All comes up too $420 (Which is why mum aint happy )

Then she'll be extra unhappy when you add the price of the Turts themselves!

Remember you'll need a light hood to put the fluoro into, and some gravel and plants and stuff too. Each pretty cheap by itself, but adds up.

You may be able to do better on the tank price if you speak to an aquarium maker or wholesaler, and you could probably do better on the turtle dock through URS or another online supplier. But overall the prices seem pretty good (I have no idea what filters are worth) and there's a lot to be said for convienience if its only a few dollars difference. If you buy all the stuff at the same time from the same place, ask for a discount and they'll probably give you some $$ off or throw in some food or gravel or cheap stuff as a bonus.

Goodluck! (remind your mum that christmas is coming and maybe chuck in an advanced birthday-present suggestion )

Actually, those prices seem fairly reasonable to me, surprising for a pet shop.

Just be extra good so she realises that you really do love her and that you'll really appreciate it!

of course then he would be buying all this for himself and that is probably very unappealing
