Just got back from the Melb rep expo...

We went early and stayed about 90mins. Parking was easy and queues no problem. The hall is not a huge affair, but plenty to see and talk to. There are a few breeders and shops set up and a lot of snakes, a few lizards and frogs in click clacks and enclosures. Lots of antaresias, womas, BHPs, carpets, jungles. Arthur the massive scrubby was there looking bored. Lots of products and enclosures etc. on sale for good prices. I wanted to see a huge Olive but there were only yearlings that I could see, but there were some big womas!

A really nice atmosphere, with all the tables going out of their way to be helpful. Being new to keeping reptiles it was great to see some of the big names in the flesh. It was also nice to see what a friendly community herpers are.

No doubt there is more happening through the day, unfortunately I had to leave early. I think my wife was worried I'd put a deposit on one of Roy Pails' BHPs

One thing I can say about reptile enthusiasts: we are a "diverse" bunch!

Hopefully more people will be going through the day, I wish I could've stayed longer.

The crowds were not too bad but picking up. Heaps of parking. The advantage of going later is probably more activities like shows. There was a scorpion handler in teh "pit" when I was there.

Not sure if its worth an interstate trip but I gather some people have come for interstate and there were some interstate stalls there I think.

"Parking was easy and queues no problem."

Once you could find the car park. The only criticism I had was that the car park was not very well signed from Epsom Road. We noticed a lot of people overshot the car park and ended up in the Victoria Racing Club like us Apart from that thoroughly enjoyed the show and displays etc. My missus was also the same with the snake acceptance factor. I think she thought that if we had have stayed we would have been going home with a wriggly character in a hessian/calico bag....

Thanks VHS and the organisers.

I was pretty pleased with the day. I brought a pair of Katherine form Spiny-tailed geckos, 6th edition of cogger for $250, 7 thermostats, a few books/magazines & other nicknack's.

Did anyone else buy any reptiles?

Yeah I enjoyed it
I could have stayed and socialised for FAR longer, but Luke doesn't know anyone that well not has he a huge interest in reptiles in the first place lol.
I also completely overshot the parking entrance at 10.20am and ended up driving around the block, coming back through the race course and stumbling into the right place by accident!
Pretty good for the second one ever in Melb, looking forward to future ones
And almost came home $3.5k poorer!! Thank frick that I reduced my credit card limits last week!!!
Thanks Brian, Simon and all others involved
Bex

Hehe, I agree, the venue's parking was OK once you found the turn off. Thanks for making me feel better as not the only ones driving around in circles until we found the entrance (was a bit embarrassed about it). I must admit I don't go to the showgrounds much (ie never) despite being a Melbournite.
