| | | keeping young male mice together
i just started breeding mice for my snakes yesterday and i was wondering if it was ok to put all the young males in a tub together until they grow to a decent size, or will there be territory problems?? also the same thing only with young females together.
cheers everyone, Tom

females should be ok, males will eventually have dramas.
ideally 1 male to 4-6 females.

I keep 2 males togethor and haven't had problems yet, I don't go to much trouble with my rodents. I keep 2 males with 6 females togethor constantly and they are spitting babies out left right and centre. But most people will probably recommend you put only one male in with the females for a week or so than seperate them after he has serviced all the females.

I take weaners out at around 3 wks and grow em in separate female/male tubs until adult size and dont have any probs. If the males all come from the same tub they should get along.

They should be ok while they are of a younger age and without a female in the cage.
Mine are okay.

As I said I keep 2 males togethor constantly and haven't had problems yet. But have heard they may fight over females when they are older, often in the result of one of them getting his nuts bit off.

If they are from the same litter and you keep them together from birth then you should be OK but don't seperate them and try and put them back together or you will indeed have nutless mice on ya hands |
