Peter, Yes you were right ! I will be refering to you for ALL further legal questions. New career path perhaps?

The Story is quite simple, after warnings & concerns expressed on this forum by my intended action I rang NSW NPWS on Friday morning. I was greeted by a wonderful & helpful & licencing officer named Kay. I explained the situation & the intenton of the "display/talk" including the fact that I was a parent. Kay confirmed the legalities with her colleagues & promptly drafted a letter, faxed it off to me & the rest is history.

Might I say that Kay did all of this very promptly especially considering it was a Friday. She went out of her way knowing that I was due to go to the school on Monday. I rang her after the fax was received to thank her for her work & help. ( I'd like to think that my manly charms had a lot to do with it by my wife tells me I'm dreamin" )

The letter included the school I was doing the talk at , the pythons I was taking & some conditions like that this was a one off event.(Tuesday this week I received a hard copy letter in the mail). No approval numbers.

Simon maybe if you didn't call people idiots and you toned down you enthusiasm alittle bit you would get more response. Personally I think your attacks on certain people are not warranted and should be considered more considering you work in the field you do I would think you will show a little more tact. :wink:I have also noticed that quite regularly you have 2 threads in a row, that would indicate to me that you engage you mouth (or fingers in this case) before your brain, hence the second thread.

Is it not education we are talking about here.....Simon NPWS ar not as stiff as you make them out to be...sure their are rules inplace for the safety of all parties...but reasonable request should be granted and have been....I am greatful that you simon do not run the NPWS in Qld, simon its not illegal if she has permisson. Up in Qld you could write a movement advise to take you snake to "a club meeting" or "a club display" as long as the NPWS knew what is going on...its fine...take every oppertunity to educate our young ones. I agree with Adam..simon you would get more respect from others if you didnt jump down their throats all the time....letting people know of the laws is fine and how they can fine it out is fine but ramming "no you can not do that" is wrong...you are not the law...and you do it quite often

It wasnt a law in the first place.
Guideline and policy documents are only that. They are interpretatrions and can be changed. In this case nothing changed. NNPWS did what they do in the majority of cases where a parent makes such a request.
Nothing new.
In Fact Jeff Hardy said exactly that earlier last year on Australianherps.
Simon seems bitter more than anything else. Just email them with a request Simon and stop being so negative. Turn some of that anger into energy.
Peter
