Saz PM'd me this :

They are being kept in a tub that is 15cm x 20cm. You could probably go up to 30cm x 30cm but no more than that, otherwise they will not find their food and will fail to grow, and eventually die.

Heat mat sounds fine, provided you stack enough substrate on it to get the floor to 28 - 30 degrees on the hot side. Hide both ends, milk bottle top or a little larger for a water dish, I use toilet rolls cut in half for hides whilst they are small.

---

When I was asking her some questions about knob tail geckos.

From what Saz said in her PM. Depending on the size of the exoterra it should be ok. ( But don't quote me on that as I have no idea as I don't own them )

Probably the smallest size? I've seen a pair housed in the smallest size before which I think is the 30cm x something

I really don't like to use glass tanks in Sydney, they are much harder to heat correctly. I have kept them in glass before, but had much better success with plastic tubs and timber enclosures, hatchies growth rates through winter and clutch numbers being much better.

adults need a around a 2ft tank/enclosure - the 30cm exoterra is too small. They dont climb so need the floor space

I have my knobby in a 45x45x45 exoterra. Had heaps of hides, logs, rocks etc but I took it all out except 2 hides because the gek is a bit of a clumsy eater, a lot harder to find and eat a meal with decorations all over the place.. So it's basically just sand and 2 small hides, 1 up the hot end 1 in the cool end. He hardly even uses the hides, most of the time he'll dig into the sand and sleep there. I don't find a need for water bowls, I just spray the cool side of the enclosure every few days and he gets his water from there.

The exo-terra in the top left hand corner is more than big enough for some adult levis. I have pairs in starmaid 9L tubs and my single animals on Quadrant 5L tubs. You can pick up the starmaids from woolies, coles, bigW etc and the Quadrant from the reject shop. I Have been meaning to grab some set up pics for a while, so I will do it tonight.
