Lace Monitor pics.

Greetings all

Here's a few pics of a young lacey of mine. It's about 70cm long now and is still holding it's pattern really well. It has nice banding thats well defined without any fading anywhere on it's body. Most young Lacey's tend to fade a bit, but i have a strong feeling this specimen will keep it's clean markings into adulthood.

How big it grows depends on if it's male or female, as males get much bigger. But 1.5m long is about average, i guess.

Very pleased. As a hatchling it was incredibly shy. Now it's incredibly bold!!

Loves a good feed. Gets all excited and runs laps up and down it's enclosure just at the sight of me holding the key to the lock of it's enclosure.

If you don't mind me asking what is a hatchling worth? I don't mean to ask if you have any just what they are generally worth.

Cheers

It's a Sydney form Lacey. Purchased as a hatchling and is about 2 years old or just under. Dont know the sex yet.

Sengir, it was $650, but most hatchlings are around $600.

That is gorgeous serpenttongue (2 "t"'s today). When will he/she be going outside. I put one of mine outside recently and it lost all its tameness within a week. I think they freak out as soon as they see all that open space.

Also, do you know if there is Bell's in your lineage. It might answer the striking pattern. It may just be the photo but it also seems more black & white than the traditinoal black & yellow of Sydney lacies. Similar in colour to a Bells????

Ratass, no there's no Bells in this Laceys linage. The breeder only has/had Sydney Lacies. I have 4 Laceys altogether and 2 (which are Sydney form Laceys) carry the Bells gene, as their father was a Bells Lacey.

I think this Lacey will stay indoors for another year at least. I have 2 which are ready to go outside now, just need to erect an avairy for them. I'm not really bothered if they turn wild on me. I'll do most of my interacting with them in the mornings before they heat up.

Yeah it's black and white. No yellow on it, but perhaps a slight hint of blue around the face sometimes. The parents looked like typical Sydney Laceys. When i purchased this Lacey, i nearly purchased one of its siblings too, which was almost identical to it.
