Hi all, im looking at gatting a juvie lacie and was after some info on the best food to feed while young (eg rat pups, mice, chooped meat etc) and should you add calcium, vitamin products to their food. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Pigfeet, i raised mine on pinkies, fuzzies, whitebait fish cut into bitesize pieces, mince and raw chicken and steak cut into bitesize pieces, dog/cat food.

I tried to make young rodents their main food, particularly small but fully developed mice so they had fully developed bones to digest for calcium.

I found that mince and dog food were a hassle to give the Lacies as they are a messy food. The Lacies really need whole items that they can swallow in one go. It's hard for them to swallow mince and dogfood as it's sticky and breaks apart easy. It also gets stuck to the roof of their mouth and they dont really have the right tongue for getting it off.

I had a few juv lace moniters and I fed them mainly crickets, cicadas, bugs etc.I gave them a pinky about every 10 days. They were kept in an outside enclosure so they got uv,and I didnt give them any vitamins etc.As a matter of interest this mate of mine found a large juvi lacie dead so he cut open the stomach (as you do)and it was chockers full of cicadas.

Pigfeet, i"ve never used calcium or UV light for them. They are still inside and are now 1m long and perfectly healthy. They'll probably be going outside permanently this year. I'm dying to get them outside!!

You can worm Lacies the same as snakes by either injecting into prey or orally via a dosing needle. Just stick to the recommended dosage rate.
