Things aren't going well for angel. After the surgery the swelling went down for 3 days, things were starting to look good. The vet and I have been treating her still, but it looks like we aren't going to win this fight. She is still getting antibiotics, vitamin c and raised the temps. Some of you may remember in the third issue (I think) of Reptiles Australia, there was an article about canker. Well there was a product mentioned in that. We have been using that also. But it is all going down hill. We have been in contact with other vets throughout N.S.W and everything they mention we have been trying. I fell really bad. I don't wether or not to make the desicion to have her put down. |

putting the animal down is a hard descion to make, if the animal was in pain or had no chance of survival then i'd bite the bullet and have it done. If there is chance of survival and like i siad the pain isn't too great for hte animal then i'd play the waiting game a bit longer. Things can go either way very quickly so i'm sure you'll no what is best.
Best of luck with it

It’s all about quality of life.... not quantity
You may feel bad about which ever your choice, but you have to make a choice

I had to make the descion to have a BHP of mine put down this year, was the worst feeling but in the end it was the only thing to do.
I could have kept him alive but the vet told me he wouldn't live a good life and would probably die anyway, knowing he was in pain and that nothing really could be done made me give the the go ahead. As bad as it feels you have to do whats right by the animal, they have no choice as to what happens.

Does seem like you're fighting a losing battle and the thought of having to put the animal down that you have put so much work into to try get him back on track isn't a nice thought. You have to think what's best for your snake and if it's still going downhill and it would obviously be in some pain, you may just have to have her/him euthanised for the animals sake.Living with pain is no good, and now that you've done all you can do it will feel bad, but i think ultimately it may be the only option left.Hang in there for a few more days and see how it goes...good luck!!!

I understand your feelings Craig, its sad that things arnt going well, sometime nature makes her own choices mate. Its hard to lose a pet you love and even harder to make the decision to let them go, I know, Ive been there, its heartbreaking.
I know you'll make the right decision which ever that be, You'll know when its time mate.
Best wishes to you both.

It really is a hard decision to make and as most have said I am sure you will make the right one. I have had to do it before as have many others I am sure, but like Bryony said, it's quality over quantity.
I hope it works out best for you and the animal.
