Hey Snakegirl, how big are the rats you are feeding? Why don't you just buy bigger rats? Xlarge or Jumbos for instance? Cheers Cheryl

I like your avatar. Very eye catching indeed.

You dont need to be giving your python huge meals now just because its big enough for them. A lot of my adult pythons get by on medium rats all year round and still breed for me.

Chickens and guinea pigs work well. Rabbits are good, although I think they're illegal up there. I don't like to feed mine birds any more than every second meal, although that's probably more to do with my own whimsical decision making criteria than anything of any real substance.

RE: legal food

Love the avatar!
Yeah if you can get rabbits they are good. Personally I don't like feeding rats after they reach about 250 grams as I think they are too fattyafter reaching this weight. Before I am belted into the middle of next week by members who disagree I must state that this is JMO.

RE: legal food

Afro, would that depend on the ingredients in the food they are eating at all? Just wondering, as we buy ours in by the tonne, special recipe from a big rodent breeder here in SA. Cheers Cheryl

RE: legal food

I suppose it would have some bearing but I think it's more to do with them not being so active as they get larger.

RR do you find that as they get older (males )
