Question Licenced Snake Handlers/Relocators???

Hey....

I work for the Qld Ambulance and as you would expect we regularly get calls from people that have been bitten by snakes. Quite often they have no idea of who to contact to get the snake removed, and rahter than tell them we dont know, and consequently the snake may be found by a shovel. We would like to supply them with an appropriate contact.

So, what I am wanting is some names, phone numbers and areas that they work of some Handlers/Relocators for the Gold Coast to Caboolture Areas.

Thanks in Advance to those that help me out.....

Rick...

Rick,

You could try contacting local police stations. I live in Gladstone in central qld, and a friend of mine had a snake in her house. Man she went off. I thought her house was on fire. Anyway, I called the police station and they had the number of someone who could help us out.
The snake turned out to be a keelback. Cool critter. For those that don't know, they eat cane toads.

Ring you local parks and wildlife service, not all their employees are qualified/licensed for animal removal, but there should be someone in there that is. Other than that, try the yellow pages and look for animal pest control people, in victoria there are private people outside Parks Victorias service that you can call to remove possums, snakes and others, some may not deal with snakes but some do.

The DSE in Victoria has a list, I expect the corresponding licence authority would have a similar list

As already stated ring Parks. They license all the Catch and Release people so it makes sense to pass the info on to the emergency services.
