I have a question and I dont know EXACTLY what it means.
Make whatever judgment on me you like, but don't post back here criticising me, PM your mate and do it there if it really has any significance to you
Anyway, back to the point.
With the WA Licensing form, after address/name and whatnot. It says "Local Authority (Shire etc) covering premises for keeping pet herpetofauna."
Now, I'm curious to know if it just wants me to write my council or if it wants me to call my council and see if it's okay. It's probably a very silly question, but I need some sort of clarification before I send it in tomorrow. Thanks.
Vince.

I'd imagine it would just be to write your local council. You wouldn't need to ring the council and ask if you can keep reptiles as i doubt they could restrict you from having them. I think it's more so NPWS/ DEH/ EPA (whatever it is) know where the animals will be held. May be wrong, as i live in SA and all licensing systems (especially WA's) are differant, but I'd say just write down your local council.

I am in WA, and I'll give you a few tips the Rep Man at my local PS gave me about filling my form out.
Honestly, though, it's pretty easy to get one here in WA, even if they make it sound hard (and this is coming from someone who doesn't actually have their license yet but was told the following...) As long as you don't have any convictions you could write almost anything on your app and be accepted. But in saying that, best to do it properly
I was told to say on my form I was buying my reps vivarium from a Pet or Rep Shop and not building it (for if you're building it). I was also told it's best to say you have got advice on caring for reptiles from your local Rep/Pet Shop.
I will tell you what the Reptile Licesning guy at CALM (Adrian) told my dad when he called up with some questions, too.
He basically said what I mentioned up there ^, as long as you have no convictions and you fill out the description of housing question adequately that can't reject your application.
Hope that helps!
Michelle
PS - what rep are you thinking of getting?

Hi Vince,
When filling out the form... you dont need to fill in previous experience...or references... where it asks about shire information..you just fill in what shire you live in...eg Aug /Margaret River...or Stirling.... as for what you are keeping your reptile in ...just put down melamine enclosure that is heat gradiant, suitable lighting for reptile....the form doesnt ask what type of retile you intend to keep ...only what category you are applying for...you must fill out residential address as well as postal if they are different...they dont come back and ask questions..you will just get your application in a couple of weeks...sad really that it is so easy......I would have liked to have taken my son to a course to learn more.... especially about handling...feeding, keeping and enclosures can mostly be learnt online or from others...but handling ..especially around the teeth area is a little daunting for me....lol..probably not my son though...I think they are like caring for a baby.... I spend most of my days ...quietly entering the room and checking on it...and the thermometer...I wish you luck anyways... and I hope your reptile brings you lots of joy...

A Newby | Yeah, I was thinking about a course but I came to this forum, wanting to know some basics before i went to one and I've learnt more than that. So thankyou to everybody who has helped me along the way, especially you Westerner. Very much appreciated.
I can't wait to get bitten to be quite honest. It sounds odd, but i'm sure a hatchy wouldnt hurt. And it'd be a new experience

I am getting a gawjus 2 yr old Stimmie from Pet Magic. Don't even think about nicking her!
Handled her the other night and she was so very calm and curious. Such a little beauty... She hasn't been fed yet but as soon as she is, I'm putting her on layby, or, even better, taking her home with me!

I want a hatchy or a juvenile. I'll probably get a hatchy because I need more money for an enclosure.
Does anybody know how quickly Stimmies grow?

Kelly gave this to me so don't thank me
Give them a ring and find out because I'm not sure. If they have snakes I don't see why they wouldn't have lizards.
