light globe in enclosures

hi, i was wondering if you can use them energy saving globes that are equal to like 75w or sumthin in an enclosure. Im gunna put it in myn tomorro (not with a snake in it) just o see if it can get up the temp and if it does it willl be fine to use yea?

No, they produce virtually no heat. They can be used for providing light though.

well ive just recently gotten a diamond python. i know they like lower temps and they dont really need much uv light, so i was going to do the same thing.

Don't believe everything you read about Diamond Pythons not needing heat. In the wild, Diamond Pythons that were digesting meals were found to have a preferred body temp of between 32-34 degrees, with quite a few choosing a temperature in excess of 34 degrees!

is it true that diamonds dont really need uv light because they are nocturnal or something? or is that just myth?

The general consensus these days is that Diamond Pythons do not require UV.

They don't call 'em energy saving for nothing. More heat, less efficient, less heat more efficient. If you are looking to save energy, maybe you could reduce the size of your bulb (physical size not wattage) rather than going for an energy saving bulb. You could also try using a 12 Volt bulb or two hooked up to a transformer. They punch out a lot of heat for a little bulb. Pretty good for a heat spot. Hope that helps.

Oh, and don't forget to make the light unreachable by your herp as you do not want it injured by a misadventure.
