just wondering if anyone else grows live plants in their reptile enclosures since there's a UV source there.
im having a go at it in my beardie tank, haven't had much luck though with a jade plant so far, Nestor still loves is though even if it's half dead. i'm in a fairly dark apartment with no outdoor area to call my own so i can't really sun the plants every so often either so i don't think that's helping.

Just check that the plants you have wont harm your reptiles, air plants are considered harmful to some reptiles im fairly sure. Beardies are likely to eat any plant you put in there so you need to be careful.
There is also the issue of the large amount of bacteria and other crap they support.
I only have plants in with my frogs and treesnakes most other reptiles will destroy plants in their enclosure.

Jade plant is poisonous! Not sure about with reptiles but my mum gave me some and said I had to make sure I wash my hands after touching it... And Jade plants like sun, so I'm not sure if the UV light would be enough.
You could grow something that beardies can eat and then you would know it is safe for them.I want a plant in my snakes cage too, I was thinking of using a eucalyptus and keeping it cut down? And how do you know if something is safe for reptiles? There are so many plants that they live with how do you find out?
