How big is your turtle? I used to breed yabbies and feed her the babies, and when she got bigger I just changed the size of the yabby

The tiny little reddish coloured worms sold at most pet shops are actually called black worms. The term bloodworm refers to a marine species often used for bait in fishing as well as non-biting midge fly larvae.

I have a mate that feeds his crickets with no side affects. He also feeds his ox heart, mealies and turtle bits which are a manufactured turtle food that looks similar to bearded dragon food you can buy at pet shops.

Our turtle eats crickets that are in the process of escaping the water dragons. I sometimes put comets in the tank for decorations ... but the turtle eats them ... (when will I learn) Pallets and frozen turtle food. And he's also such a pig he'll climb out of the water and steal the dragons mixed bag of dog food and pallets from time to time.

i have a similar prob my young eastern long neck only wants to eat bloodworms. wont topuch frozen fish which has been defrosted or turtle dinner stuff, not interested in flakes or other commercially prepared food. on the other hand my two short necks grab anything they see.

I have guppies which breed in the tank and I assume he's eating soem of them (or the others are) as the population never seems to get out of control. i'm thinking that to ensure he's eating i may need to kill some of the baby guppies and put them inf ront of him

I have a store near me called the aquarium warehouse that sells freshwater glass prawns that I'm trying to breed(not successfully yet) and i feed them to my turtles in a separate container. It's cool to watch them go on the hunt but it takes them a while cause the prawns are so damn quick, sometimes they jump out of the water about 10cms to try avoid their death.

I also have a lot of fish in with the turtles but they don't go after them, except for when I put food in the tank, then one of my turtles lets the fish knows who's boss, I have a comet that is really brave and takes food from in front of the turtle, he gets punished though and now has frayed tail. I don't think the turtle sees the comet as food yet (its too big) but is basically telling it to 'get away from my food!'

They also love blackworms and it gives them something to do for a few hours, getting them one by one out of the gravel.

mine dont try and jump out of the container they live in, I've read that they're attracted to light and if there is a light source above them they will jump out. I've got them living in the corner of the room which isn't very light and they're hiding most of the time. I've got them in the community tank as well, it's funny to watch them scavenge for food right in from of the turtles then watch the food actually travel down their body, crazy
