Looking for a small snake..

I'm looking to get my first snake.

i've already has 3 beardies and think it's time to move up one.

I'm really unsure about what to get though.

I am really just looking for the smallest possible snake, are children's the smallest I can go?

Macs can get pretty darn big. I've seen a couple females well over the 5ft mark, one was pushing 6.

When i had a mac it got to 3ft at two years. I would think average would be 5ft. Diff localities would be different. I have also seen wild childrens at the 5ft mark too. But most childrens seem to top out at just over 3ft.
