Hi guys, Got an interesting situation that im hoping someone out there has had experience with..
Last week one of my male night tigers suddenly developed a lump to the side of his spine, mabee about half way down. That lump had gone when I checked him in 2 days, but another one had developed on his neck. this one was much bonier than the last and is still there, although it appears that a little of the inflamation has gone down.
He has seen an experienced herp vet who didnt think the problem was parasitic, and said that it appeared to be a broken rib, possibly caused by over-extendig and falling from a perch. I cant quite imagine how he could have done it with his set up, but was assured that it happens all the time..
Heres the strange (and very scary) part..
I got out my treasured jugle python snoo, who was my first herp, and she has suddenly developed a bony lump under her heat pits on one side.
So of course now I'm totally FREAKING OUT, and will continue to do so until I see the vet on wed, or get some answers!!
I have also noticed some possible very mild resparatory symptoms with both snakes, nearly undetectable with the pyhon, but a little worse in the treesnake. The treesnake does have a resperatory history and will show symptoms if his temps and environment arent PERFECT, so it may be unrelated. (both mouths clean)
Hope someone can help..

Sounds like a skin worm problem too me, however I couldn't be sure, at least not without seeing the animals. Will have to wait for the virdict from the vet.

Trent

Thanx guys..
Vet didnt think it was a parasitic problem, god I hope Its nothing too drastic..
If there needs to be an incisoin made to see what the problem is, I will have the vet take photos in case there is anything unusual which may give insight to other herpers. Will post them with any info if it happens.
