yes you can , i use a 50/50 mix of water and wood glue to seal the timber than finish of with a good wash and wear paint .....

just make sure you give it a good airing if you paint the inside,
you dont want any fumes hanging about when ya put ya herp in there, and thats why i suggest melamine also because its easier to clean

yes thats right OZROCKS , two weeks is a good time to wait before adding your rep to a newly painted cage . paint fumes and also fly spray can give your pythons brain damage...

Nothing wrong with ply, about 14mm, and seal it with something like cabothane

mine's made from ply which was then sealed and water proofed. since moving from glass tanks i love the wood look and the fact that it hold heat so well., moved just in time for the cold snap too
