Thats a pretty lame reason to do that, to my knowledge it's not illegal to show venomous snakes anywhere provided you are properly licensed, maybe it's different in VIC, but even so thats not a reason to go cutting out venom glands.

Like i said in my previous post, for peoples own satisfaction that they do it. No other reason.

snakeman you are right I don't know you but you provided an example on how you look after you children which I made a comment on. Putting children at risk for a photo op doesn't bode well for your parenting skills.

sorry stevo for the typing error and the fact that you are frightened by big words i will try not to use them in the future. Spelling mistakes and typos aside my argument still stands.

I've got to say that I'm completely with you Moclobe. As a parent myself I can see no sense in what unarguably comes down to risking your own kids life. It's not wrapping the kid in cotton wool it's just basic common sense.
If somebody with a history of loosness handed your kid a handgun and said "it's ok it's not loaded" - where's the difference?
At least with the handgun you can check the breach and mag (and then club the guy to near death with it ), not the case with the snake!
That's my view.

I really can't see the point to doing this, for any reason. To me venomous snakes are exactly that venomous .
Thats part of there appeal and what makes them special, we have the deadliest snakes in the world, thats pretty dam awesome IMO.
Why would someone want to keep a deadly snake thats not deadly, kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it.

" Hey John check out this eastern brown snake....second deadliest snake in the world you know......but this one isn't deadly"

The only reason i can see for people to do this is because they are to worried about being bitten and why keep them at all if you are, makes no sense at all to me.
I also can't see how people who say they love snakes would want to do it, how can you love snakes if your willing to chop out it's venom glands, believe me the snakes DO NOT like it. It's only for the satisfaction of the people who keep them, like it or not.
100% with you Duga on all points!
