Mammoth Enclosure for our Murray Darling

Well it has taken us a while but the actual structure is finally built.

We still need to build a top which will house lights and stuff as well as a heat lamp down the bottom. We still have to furnish it but this is the basic structure.

Thanks, That's my artistic talents at work, I'm not normally very artistic but after spending a week trying to find posters or something to use I decided to give it a go, the worst that could have happened was that we would have needed to paint over it.

We're now tossing around the idea of getting him a lady friend to share his bachelor pad with.

Our MD, "George" is about 7ft and fatter than my arm. The only concern about getting him some female conpanionship for his new pad is that they may end up breeding and we are certainly not set up for it.

Then if they do breed, what do we do with all the little youngsters?

Yes 'Python Blue' That is one of the last things that we need to do for it, I have been trying to find some nice branches and a big hollow log for him to curl up in, I have sorced a small top section of a pond for him as his water source which we will mount in the bottom corner and I think we will go a bark chippy type floor covering, not sure about what we might put on the top ledge for him in the way of surface though. Any suggestions out there?

I have done some research on how to set up an inucbator and it doesn't seem too hard, It's just amatter of what to do with them all after they hatch.

I have also heard that MD's are particularly good parents when it comes to hatching eggs, so I possibly wouldn't have to do anything to them and the female would do it all.

Great job Nell,

Personaly i would not put any heating in the bottom section thus giving a greater temp gradient.

If you do purchase a mate, add heating to the bottom and keep them seperate untill you want to breed them, then" open the door put on some Barry White and wait for the fireworks" .

Donk

Unfortunately Donk, they would have to co-habitate for a while until the deed is done as it is all open plan living I'm afraid, we could however keep his old enclosure for when they need to be seperated. It was a converted wardrobe, just not quite enough space for long term living for him any more.
