Depending on your enclosure design, structural plywood could be another option. It is a lot stronger then other composite boards.

MDF basically consists of crushed up SOFTWOODS , wax and resins .......so i would say he is correct in using the term WOOD ....

MDF is banned in america for industrial use. the dust is toxic, so use a mask when you cut it.

The dust from melamine would most likely be just as harmful,I would wear a dust mask dealing with both.

Breathing in just about any type of dust is dangerous.
Maybe they should also ban treated pine :S
