Hi
Im setting up my first vivarium for a baby captive bred SW Carpet Python and i have everything in place but i have just two questions left.
I have built a heat rope coiled into the floor of the enclosure and covered it with laminex , i am using recycled newspaper pellets as the substrate on the floor but im not sure where to measure the heat from. Do i measure it from the top of the substrate or from the floor where the snake is more likely to burrow down to ?
Also i have a hide rock for hime just incase he wants to hide from prying eyes should i put that directly over the top of the heat coil ?
Thanks for any help

Firstly, You only need 1/2 the floor covered in heat, thermal gradient the floor 30 degree -> 25 ???
Secondly, you take the temp test from there. This way the snake can choose where it wants to lay, depending on it's mood and body temps.
Pics of your enclosure would also help in a more accurate answer. We love photos in our happy lil community
Oh by the way ..... Welcome

You mention a hide rock... You actually should have two of them in the enclosure... One up the cooler end, and one down the warm end.....
