What techniques do keepers use to measure the length of their pythons, I'm struggling to measure mine by my self and am wondering if there are some tricks to it.

Yep, the sting method is definately the best and quickest way.

ive heard of a pc program that you take a photo of the snake from above and put something in the photo like a 20c coin so the program can work out the size by putting point marker's on the photo its hard to explain but i believe it work so if anyone is out there with the program plz share

They generally will slither along side of it, therefore straightening out to full length...You can then measure them or the space they layed up against....

I have some small river pebbles in a 6 inch wide border around the house. When I put snakey on it he moves along very straight with no meandering. Must just use his under belly muscles on the small pebbles. Anyway he is very straight I make a mental note of a point of the wall and when his tail is level with this mark I put a pebble where his head is and then I simply measure the distance. Have thought about the string method but could see a problem with snakey getting P-ied off when I attempted to start from his head area, but I am sure it works well with practice.

One thing that i have found with my childreni is that if i get a tape measure and tip it on it's side, then she will slither in and go straight along with it trying to hide. This is similar to the wall thing except that the moment her head reaches the zero point, look back and you can find the measurement of where their tle is.

I used to use one for my Childreni. I always had a fight with her trying to measure her. One night after the usual fight, I noticed that she had some cuts on her belly. It ended in a couple of trips to the vet. I now use a dress maker's tape measure (have only used it once so far). The edges aren't very sharp. Still having the fights though.

We use a dressmakers tape. Much easier.
We've also done the string thing. Worked a treat too. Mind you, one thing to remember- is in scientific terms- most snakes are measured from head to vent....not top to end of tail.
Good luck!
