Put the snake on the floor and if u have it get some Perspex (clear sheets of plastic) pit it over the snake it shouldn’t move and trace over it with a permanent marker
then measure the line u have just drawn and if u can c where the tail starts from the vent put a line so you can get the SVL and STL. There is less stress on the snake coz its over in a matter of a minute no fussing around

PS. u can keep using the perspex just get a bit of metho and clean it off
