Medical Inquiry

Here is a copperhead that was bought to me today.
It has full movement but appears to have some damage to the lower half of it.
The skin seems to be very saggy and also stretched over the bones.
Im thinking it may have been hit by a car as the area seems to have been flattened as well.
Im hoping to get a reply from a vet but i realise how hard it is to make a diagnosis from a few pics.My plan is to let it settle for a while and then offer a mouse in a day or so.I figure if it eats and craps it might have a chance.
it may be possible the thing is starved but more likely ill have to put it down.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated but im really wanting to get advice by an experienced herper.

No experience with these things Baz, but although it is very emaciated, the scales do look very damaged, almost like a burn?
Like maybe it was stuck with it's back half exposed to the sun until it lost enough weight to get out?

It looks crook snakeman.
Does it attempt to strike at you or show signs of pain.
it looks like its been hit by a car to me .
wild reptiles are tough I would leave the food for from 4 to five days as wild animals are stressing at the best of times when caught and probably wont attempt to eat for a while

Very alert and would love to tag me.It is quick ,strikes well, uses its whole body to move, but seems to be not reacting to touch on some parts.

Don't muck around with it!
It sounds pretty crook, you can ring Wildlife Victoria and they will take care of it or let you know where to take it.
I would take it into care but I think I'm on the opposite side of town (Melton) and I'd have to get it back for release.
It's illegal to keep injured wildlife unless you're a shelter or a registered carer.
Wildlife Victoria should be able to put you on to someone!
