None of that is HMR why would you buy cheap melamine - it's like putting plastic over your windows instead of glass.

They do have HMR mate, don't be so quick to judge. Give them a call or something. On their old price list they had HMR 'Commodity Colours' which blacks falls into. They've changed their price list now though so i'm not sure what they are selling and what they are not selling. Give them a call, you might be surprised.

By the way, if you seal the corners properly it won't matter if it is HMR or not. In saying that however, i always use HMR.

Never seen black melamine. As for the melamine they sell at BUnnings, what's wrong wqith it? I have used it to build a few enclosures, no problem at all with it, and I will be buying more.

Well you pay for what you get.
HMR is a better board not brittle like the stuff from Bunnings and if they could cut the sheet without chipping it that might help so they don't use a scriber to start will - With out HMR even a small spot not covered with silicon will start to expanded.

There is a big difference in the quality you get when you buy those cheap sheets from bunnings and getting a good sheet of HMR .................you only have to have a look at both and you will see the diff.
but if you seal joints in the stuff from bunnings it will be ok , might not last as long as the HMR though ....

thanks dazza.

i am trying to price it out to see if making it myself is significantly (ie worth losing fingers) cheaper than having it made.

where is hallam?
