The enclosure is going to be heated by one or two 12volt halogen down lights (dicroic lights) so they can be set up so they can't be seen when looking through the front of the enclosure - similar to these ones http://www.herpshop.com.au/CareSheets/TiledEnclosure/
just wondering what sort of mesh would work well as the lights will sit either directly on it or very close to it. I was thinking of the mesh which is pretty much a sheet of steel with holes punched out of it but have no idea where to get it.
any other suggestions on mesh type would be good. the enclosure if going to hold a blonde mac who is only 12 months old at the moment so the mesh can't have too bigger holes in it
cheers

Probably a place that sells exhausts for cars, a Metal-Mart place or somewhere that specialises in mesh as such should have it. Otherwise, any finer metal insect mesh would be ok.
Someone told me, if you take the covers off the the down lights your pet would receive beneficial UV as well. I plan on using them when I upgrade Opals' tank.

it worked a treat and looks nice too

Some of the LEDS you can get these days are small, super bright and wont bust but if they do... cheaper than chips to replace
Dunno how i am going to go about installing them though... cross that bridge when i get there |

I have just had a chat with a few people and LEDS don't emit heat and due to their size are very versatile and can be arranged to do any number of things If you wanted to emphasise something in the enclosure or dramatise something with light and shadow --> feature rock wall or vines or anything... Just my thoughts |

the bin idea is good but i am going to need a piece that is about 1200x600mm. i had a search before i posted this topic and couldn't find anything.
does the sheet mesh with holes in it have a particular name/trade name that i should ask for
cheers
