It is probably worth pointing out these are SVL not TL lengths.
This is a great book by the way. It is a great read and written with a real passion. (It is published by Heinemann Australia - ISBN 0 7301 0389 7)
That said, as a background, it is probably worth quoting the heading on Ricks Appendix with this data: "All of this information comes from my own field studies or museum dissections, except for seasnake data which come from published studies, or advice from Tim Ward and Hal Cogger. A few species are not included because we have no reliable information on the basic biology. The Appendix shows the clutch or litter size and the average snout-to-vent length of the species at birth or hatchling, and at average adult male and female sizes. Tail length is not included in these measurements. The size at sexual maturity can be estimated from the average body lengths, because most species mature at about three-quarters of average body size. The compostion of the diet is also shown, in terms of the proportions of the diet composed of different types of prey."
Note that when I transcribed this data I only did it for pythons and I did not include the hatchling sizes or food composition data.
Please blame any typos or errors in the above quote on my transcription.
