monitor mansion finnished

just posting pics of my monitor cage iv build for breeding v.tristis tristis it will eventually house a group of 5 iv finnished it today and am playing with temps all i got to do is go cut a whole heap of branches for climbing to put in there and its finnished

its 5ftx5ftx2.5ft heated by 2x 160w ausbright high mercury vapour bulbs a large nesting/digging box filled with wet sand some rocky cave like hides some logs and a tilestack im wondering if i should make the stack higher or make another stack but i will definatly put more wood in there

what do you guys think? got any similar varanid cages?

Whats on the roof?? Tristis are masters of escape. Depending on the subspecies (I am assuming tristis tristis seeing as your in perth) and age I would not personally trust 12mm wire with a tristis - 6 mm is far more suitable (a subadult could squeeze itself through but adults would be fine)

richardsc: on the log its sitting at 40c same on the stack however im lowering the light for the stack still to get it real hot just playing with heights atm the log im not to bothered about there will be heaps of branches at varying heights near the light

geckodan: yes its tristis tristis im useing half-inch square wire theres no way the adult tristis are fitting through it the top is a full swinging lid in 2 halfs the animals going into this setup are all 65-75cm long and fairly bulky

theres 2 adult females housed in there at the moment one of them is the one pictured above and this is the other, the 3erd adult female is in a 4ft by herself to get fattened up on mice for a month or 2 before she gets put in the main enclosure, i have a small male that im trying to grow so i can put him in this cage and a large male im waiting to get from another person

sorry to say my cage looks like crap on the outside its vary basic just a pond with a wooden top that is cabletied on but its effective.
