i dont know many mertens keepers, if they were good starters would probably be more around, make just start small, do you have room for a 3x6 or 4x6m enclosure for a fully grown sandy?

sandys get to a lovely managable size of 1 nd a half meters
mertens require more "delicate" husbandary
storrs, ackies and pygmy mulgas are great becuase there small, normally docile, hardy (but not bulletproof) and they all are quiet amusing and have there own cool personalitys, it does not matter that there small, nobody on this site will tease u becuase u have a small......... monitor

room to keep it is not the only thing that matters. what will happen if its sick do u know how to tell, will u be game to get up close and check it? also general maintenence if you own an animal its wellbeing is your responsibility now a cage full of poop aint gonna keep him very well just think about things liek that before you jump onto an animal becuase it looks nice

ive had storrs, i kept an adult pair in a 4 foot tank. that housed them really well.

i am soon getting some ackies as they are the next size up.

both of these species have lots of character and are fairly easy to look after.
